Arabic Cookies

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 4 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1cup shredded coconut

Directions

Mix butter, baking powder, baking soda, oats, sugar, coconut, flour, shortening, and salt with fingers until dough reaches the consistency of pie crust. Boil some water and set aside and cool until lukewarm. Now add the lukewarm water into dough and mix thoroughly. Make dough into one inch balls. Flatten with a fork or fancy bottomed glass for imprint. Place on greased cookie sheets and bake at 400 degrees F (205 degrees C) for 10 mins.
