Sindh Food Authority (SFA) is an action these days; After Yadgar Fish badly exposed, SFA raided Boat Basin restaurants in Clifton over the weekend.
During strict scrutiny, around 12 eateries were raided, out of which 2 were completely sealed and 12 fined for poor quality. To improve the conditions and hygiene standard, eateries are given 15 days’ time. If fined eateries do not comply with SFA’s suggestions by the given deadline, strict action will be taken against them, even leading to permanent shutdown.
SFA team not only scrutinized the hygiene conditions of the restaurants, but also checked their raw material they were using in food preparation. Not only this, the restaurants were also serving rotten meat and even the freezers in which the meat was stored were in poor condition. SFA team has seized the meat and has issued a warning to the culprits.
It was also disclosed that the sealed Boat Basin restaurants were using sub-substandard spices, oil and materials. In fact, they failed to provide any invoices for those items.
